Best Man's Jobs...

When the job of best man falls to you, you are obviously happy for your best mate who is getting married, but you may also be daunted by the tasks awaiting you. Being best man is a lot more than simply packing the groom into a limousine for a night of drinking and strippers, you are ‘holding his hand’ right up until the wedding ceremony.

However, you can’t neglect the bachelor party either and there is now a fine art to the groom’s last night of freedom as you don’t want the stag night to be too tacky but you still want to make sure the night is unique and different from any other night at the pub. Therefore, hire a super stretch limousine which can carry all of your mates while still having room for a fully stocked bar and even a dance floor!

When inviting guys to the stag night party, make sure you don’t invite anyone who isn’t going to the wedding. Also make sure the stag night is about what the groom finds fun, not just what is typically done on a stag night.

Before the big day, you will also have to help the groom with the tuxedos – either the fitting or the hiring, as well as organising his transport to the wedding and that of the groomsmen. 

The best man also needs to go to the rehearsal dinner, to get to know the other friends and family members close to the bride and groom and so you know what is happening on the day so you can help out the groom if he needs.

Help the groom on the day by making sure he has a meal before the ceremony as he may not have a chance to eat at the reception with photos and chatting and dancing. You will also be responsible for the ring until you get to the church where you can give it to the ring bearer.

The best man is also in many of the photos and leads the dancing of the bridal party with the maid of honour. The best man and the maid of honour also sign the marriage license as witnesses.

Most of all the best man is there to make sure that the groom can give his attentions to his bride and you worry about tipping the limo driver, getting the groom a drink and not embarrassing yourself and everyone else with a drunken speech.
